KPMG experience in similar projects

KPMG Uruguay has wide experience in rendering professional services to foreign subcontractor companies in similar projects. Actually, KPMG advised several companies in the Montes del Plata (MDP) Project during 2011- 2014, a joint venture between Stora Enso and Arauco, for the construction of a pulp mill.

The service areas included legal advice involving the acquisition of a local company, obtaining free zone user status, executing agreements, etc. We also provided tax advice and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) services (such as accounting and payroll services) and migration services to obtain the work permit for the foreign workers.
During the MDP project we processed over 1,600 residence procedures. Additionally, KPMG carried out negotiations with the Government and obtained the creation of a special migrations office to process exclusively the residence procedures of the foreign workers affected to the Montes del Plata project.

We advised +15 subcontractor companies and rendered around 17,000 hours of professional services, in regards to the abovementioned pulp mill project.
